Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy addressed a massive public gathering in Gajapathinagaram constituency in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday.
Launching a scathing atack at AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, he said that the Thotapally project was ignored by the TDP government until 2004. It was only when late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy visited the district, the project works were completed on a war footing, he recalled.
"Even though 90% of the project had been finished in Rajanna Rajyam, Chandrababu could not finish the remaining works. Out of the 1.3 lakh acres to be benifited from the project, not even 80,000 acres are receiving irrigational waters. Dr YSR finished 25% of the Branch Canal works at a cost of Rs 12 crore while Chandrababu ignored the project by just allocating Rs 9 crore," he added.
YS Jagan stated that the fact that there were only four gynaecologists out of the mandatory six doctors was a reflection of the State government's interest in public healthcare. He asked what the status of Chandrababu's promise of turning the local hospital to a 100-bed hospital was.
Corruption In Purchase of 108 Vehicles
YS Jagan observed that only 310 ambulances were functional out of the 414 vehicles shown in the government records. While the TATA company was paid Rs 12.60 lakh for each vehicle, Chandrababu was helping his benamis by quoting Rs 18 lakh, he added.
He compared the ambulance costs of Telangana government (Rs 11.65 lakh) with those of AP.
Chandrababu 'Uttama Karuvu Ratna'
The YSRCP Chief said it was hilarious to know Chandrababu Naidu received an International Award for leadership in Farming even after he had commented that the farmers would have to use the high tension wires for drying clothes if the State provides free electricity to farmers. He added that Chandrababu deserved an award for being the Worst CM and for bringing droughts into the State when in power.
Jagan Ane Nenu...
YS Jagan explained to the public the welfare schemes to be taken up by the YSRCP after coming to power. As part of the Navaratnas, he promised to provide a financial assistance of Rs 12,500 per farmer every year in the month of May. A fund of Rs 3,000 crore would be set aside for stabilising the crop prices at the time of harvest, he said.
"In every constituency, cold storage and food processing units would be built. Taxes on agricultural tractors would be abolished. The aquatic farmers would be provided with electricity at just Rs 1.50 per unit. An insurance for Rs 5 lakh would be provided to the farmers to prevent suicides," he mentioned.
