YS Jagan attack case: HC issues notices

In connection with the murder attempt on Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday issued notices to eight persons, including Union Government, AP DGP and Telangana DGP , asking them to respond within two weeks. Prior to adjourning the case for two weeks, the Court ordered the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials to submit a report in a sealed cover on the proceedings of the probe in the ensuing two weeks.

The High Court was hearing the proceedings on the petitions filed by YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP political affairs In-charge YV Subba Reddy, which demanded an independent probe into the incident by a third party investigating agency. It may be recalled that the AP Leader of Opposition was attacked with a sharp knife by a restaurant worker, Janupalli Srinivasa Rao in the VIP Lounge of Visakhapatnam last month.

In this respect, the Court in its earlier order had asked the government to submit the details of the SIT probe. After the SIT submitted its report, the Court asked them on the whereabouts of the CCTV footage in the airport. When the Court asked the officials on the authorities responsible for maintaining the CCTV footage, they had no answer.

Further, the Court issued notices to the officials seeking a comprehensive report on the security measures at the airport. The Court scheduled the next hearing to be held after 2 weeks.
