Chandrababu's Political Opportunism Dents AP's Fortunes Again

Published on : 18-03-18 | 09:48

In yet another clear case political opportunism, Chandrababu Naidu hatched a big conspiracy to stall special status for  Andhra Pradesh. Chandrababu's sudden u turn on his party's support to the no confidence motion moved by YSR Congress Party in the Parliament and the decision to go on its own on the issue clearly indicated Chandrababu’s efforts to stymie the prospects of achiving the special status for Andhra Pradesh.

The unrelenting struggle by YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy through  aggressive campaign and agitation for special status has put the centre in a big fix . The deadline set by the party on the sensitive to the centre also created a big political storm in the country.

Initially,  Chandrababu extended support to YSR Congress for its bold decision to move no confidence motion against BJP led NDA government. Within hours, the CM snapped ties and moved against BJP  fearing YS Jagan will capitalise the political situation in next elections.

Chandrababu's hasty political moves had created an impression  that unity was lacking among the  AP political parties at national level. This will cause a major hindrance to  achieve special status for which YS Jagan threatened  the mass resignation of his party MPs. Eyeing political benefit,  the TDP leader deliberately took last minute  decisions only to scuttle the prospects of getting special status.

Chandrababu had sailed with NDA for four years and also hailed the centre's decision to grant special package in the place of special status.  Stunned by YS Jagan's growing popularity,  Chandrababu was taking political steps with selfish motive.
