Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock at the boat tragedy in Vijayawada. He offered heart-felt condolences to the family members of the victims. In his tour diary, YS Jagan wrote: “I am benumbed beyond words. I offer my deep and heartfelt condolences to the kin of the victims in this darkest and tragic hour of grief and sorrow. I directed the party workers to rush to the mishap site and ensure that the victims’ kin get justice.”
On Sunday evening, a boat carrying over 45 passengers from Bhavani Island in Krishna river in Vijayawada to Pavitra Sangamam capsized claiming 17 lives. As many as seven persons are feared missing.
