YSR Congress party Andhra Pradesh unit's SC Cell President Meruga Nagarjuna was placed under house arrest this morning. Situation turned tense at the leader's residence, after the police rounded his house, in the wake of Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's visit to Vemuru constituency in the district today.
Chandrababu is scheduled to inaugurate the construction work of Potharlanka Lift Irrigation Scheme On Krishna West Bank Canal on Monday. On Sunday, Nagarjuna visited Potharlanka and pointed to the irregularities taking place in the project, like leakage of water. It is in this backdrop, it is learnt, that the YSRCP leader was placed under house arrest, as a precautionary measure.
According to reports, the SC Cell President is expected to be restricted to his house, until the chief minister concludes his tour today. YSRCP leaders pointed out that it is because of the expose on the issues in the project, that the YSRCP leader has been placed under house arrest.
